Hamburger time.

I've been working alot lately on perfecting my performance with the home brew video feedback system i built out of dumpstered TVs. I've been trying to get better at controlling the feedback in a way that yields more aesthetically pleasing results, and to have more control over what type of feedback is produced. because each tv is a different age and some are nicer tubes than others, each tv will has its own feedback "world" of shapes and colors. if i position the camera at the same distance and angle to the set, each tv will surprise me with a completely different response to the positioning, which makes it difficult to do so. i could go on at length about the nature of each tv, but to save space, i'll leave it at this.

there are two things i'm really into about this piece/performance. the first being that i constructed the entire system out of dumpstered parts. i think the DIY aesthetic is experiencing a great depression -esque revival, and i'm really excited about it. go poor people! the second, is that this is something anyone can do. there is no electronic "black box" of mystery, or a computer (which viewers seems to assume is doing everything, and dont question) the process, mechanism and final product are all in plain view, and are familiar objects. (last stab at keeping the video art thing alive....)

and on a side note, i'm also thinking of a relocation from middletown to somewhere less quiet. possibilities are Austin, Brooklyn, Portland, maybe bay area zone, and going home. i dont want to do that last one, so if anyone wants to live somewhere else with me sometime....let me know?
